1394’te Osmanlı ülkesine katıldı. 16. yy.da muhtariyet hakkını Osmanlı’ya devretti. 1866’da kurulan Romanya Krallığına 1878 Berlin antlaşmasıyla bağımsızlık verilmesiyle Osmanlı’nın buradan ilgisi kesildi.
