Sezen translation into Ottgaz

In the hierarchy, Sezen designates hundreds of sites as "merkez," mostly for the twentieth century. What does this mean? (added 2023-07-17)

maa

Sezen produces some very lengthy placenames using "maa". In Ottoman, he supplies a much shorter name. (added 2023-07-17)

The preferred approach may be to retain the name as it appears in Ottoman as the label, i.e. consign the material after "maa" into the alias field.
